Surveys & Guarantees

Q. 1. What happens after the survey is carried out?
A.

You will receive a written report, giving information about our company, along with our credentials and contact details. The report will also include:

  • Diagnosis of problems that may exist
  • Remedial options and works recommended
  • Estimate of costs for work
  • Explanation of Guarantees appropriate to the work
Q. 2. How soon do I wait for the works?
A.

An acceptance form is attached to your report you are required to fill this in and return to us. We will then contact you to arrange a suitable start date.

Q. 3. What does the Guarantee Cover?
A.

Only the works as recommended in our Report, as well as any other sundry works recommended to be carried out. The property must also be maintained, ie water ingress.

Q. 4. How long does the Guarantee last?
A.

Our Guarantees run from 30 years from the completion date of works.

Q. 5. Can I transfer the Guarantee if I sell my property?
A.

Yes, the Guarantee is transferable to any future owners.

Q. 6. What is GPI?
A.

For added security and for subsequent owners of the property we recommend the Guarantee Protection Trust insurance. For a premium per guarantee, (one premium for wood treatments, i.e. woodworm or fungal decay, and one premium for rising damp treatments) your guarantee will be honoured by the Guarantee Protection Trust Ltd for a period of twenty years following the completion of the work, in the unlikely event of Alliance Timber Preservation (North) Ltd. Ceasing to trade within that period. An information leaflet will be enclosed with your report, if appropriate.

Q. 8. How long before it is safe to re-enter the treated areas?
A.

Q. 9. What happens if there are bats nesting in my loft?
A.

By Law we are required to inform Scottish Natural Heritage if bats are found to be roosting in your property. Any chemical that we use is NOT harmful to these animals.
